It may just be a 1972 Dodge van which was once in its prime but worth much more today due to the fact that it is decorated with works of Kurt Cobain. Cobain as a roadie for sludge metal pioneers Melvins did some paintings on sides of the Dodge which has made it well worth over $20,000 today. Recently on sale on eBay on August 28th the Dodge van was auctioned for $24,701.
Owner Ben Berg, the previous owner was present at the auction and was elated at the price received for a 40 year old 1972 Dodge Van which had definitely seen better days. Paintings on the sides of the van are unique and crafted by Nirvana anchor Kurt Cobain which has been painted using sharpie markets shoplifted from a Thriftway grocery store where Buzz Osborn used to work.
Cobain has also used this van to take himself to local shows while the Melvins themselves used the van on US tours. What has drawn more attention to the van is the two registration numbers one signed by Matt Lukin – Melvins bassist and the other by King Buzzo. By a twist of fate, the license tabs expired on April 1994 the same month during which Cobain took his life.
