Skoda increases car prices in India by 1.8%

With effect from August 2012, a new revised pricing will come into effect for all Skoda Auto India vehicles. This price rise will be from 1% to 1.8% and will cover their entire range of vehicles offered in the country. Reasons for this increase in prices are due to higher input costs coupled with fluctuating exchange rates in international markets.

Current market scenario is grim, auto companies are registering dip in demand and ever increasing fuel prices, high interest rates and competition in the auto sector is compounding the problem. However despite these challenges, Skoda Auto India registered an 89% growth in June 2012 as compared to the same period in the previous year. Total sales stood at 4,923 units in June 2012 as against 2,610 units in June 2011 with Skoda Rapid driving in volumes with 3,246 units.

Rapid is a major driver where volumes are concerned while launch of Skoda Superb Ambition will add further momentum to sales in the D segment. Skoda Auto India has been operating in India since November 2001. The company has launched 2012 Growth Strategy under which it aims to increase global sales to a minimum of 1.5 million units per annum. The company currently has 106 dealerships in India and is hence able to reach out to a vast section of customers.
