Micromax has launched its Superfone Elite A84 Android smartphone powered with 1 GHz CPU. This mid range device has a 4 inch IPS capacitive multi touch screen with a pixel resolution of 480x800. The device has a 5 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a VGA camera in front. When fully charged, the 1630 mAh battery offers a talk time in excess of 4.5 hours.
A big disappointment is the fact that this phone runs on Android 2.3.6-Gingerbread. For a price of Rs 10,000 one would have expected Micromax to provide the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Why the company has opted for Gingerbread instead of Ice Cream Sandwich is beyond belief.
Moving ahead, the smartphone has regular features such as video player, accelerometer, FM radio, 3G, Wi-Fi, and Micro-USB port present in most mid range devices. Software preloaded on this Micromax offering includes Mstore, Facebook, TOi News app and A.I.S.H.A voice assistant. The ‘Elite’ tag associated with this smartphone doesn’t justify what it has to offer, more so considering it runs on an old Android version.
