Google street view Astra crash in India: Real or gimmick

A supposed Google StreetView Camera Car was wrecked and lying unattended on a rocky slope in Leh district of North India. While the car lay damaged and abandoned, an unidentified man has managed to capture video footage of the camera equipped Opel Astra hatchback with a smashed façade. It is not yet ascertained whether these men of foreign lineage recognizable due to their American or Canadian accents were handlers of the vehicle or stumbled upon the wreckage by accident but cleraly throwing stones at the vehicle is entire;y pointless. Furthermore, Opel as a brand does not function in India currently, so, why use an Opel Astra.

The car crash did not seem recent judging by the fact that the car was covered with dust which indicated that it was lying in this condition for a couple of days. The photographs of this abandoned vehicle have made their way online and have created a ripple among viewers who find it strange that a Google Street View Car could not come to its own rescue and showcase deep ravines along the Indian mountainous region of Leh.

Google introduced Street View cars with Google Maps and Google Earth giving in-depth views and positions of streets, regions and expanses across the globe. This device was launched in May 2007 across the US while it has been expended to include other cities and locations worldwide. Previously a Maruti Suzuki Alto and Mahindra Scorpio have been spotted on Indian streets fitted with gagets and contraptions that point to them beihg Google Street view cars, but clearly thse vehicles were missing any tell tale signs that it was in fact a Google venture.
