Internet giant Google has received a patent on a technology that is set to change the future of search. Experts believe this Google technology will make searching scenarios on the search engine much easier. Google’s Automatic Large Scale Video Object Recognition software can scan videos or pictures of uploaded material and pick landmarks, content and objects on its own for tagging and categorizing. For instance, if a user uploads a photo or video of a location without providing any information or data this Google technology could help tag the video or photo. Although this patent technology is going to revolutionize the way internet apps will be used, tech experts also point out there is going to be a huge uproar over privacy issues if this technology is embedded in smartphone platforms.
Several groups have already raised concerns over Google collecting personal user information, and with this technology private life won’t be private anymore. Google in its patent said” Conventional systems rely on direct human input to provide object exemplars explicitly labeled as representing the object, such as set of images known to include, for example, dogs, based on prior human examination. However, such human input is expensive, time consuming, and cannot scale up to handle very large data sets comprising hundreds of thousands of objects and millions of images.
