Income levels have increased parallel to prices of small cars in India. Side by side, auto manufacturers have also endeavored to offer better value small cars to customers in India who show more preference to small and compact vehicles especially considering road conditions in the country. The study also concludes that customers are showing more preference to diesel vehicles especially following the recent developments in the country.J D Power Asia Pacific has conducted a survey which suggests that all it takes is 10 months of income to purchase a small car in India.
This figure has remained the same since the past five years and likely to remain so for some time to come. The study further concludes that where brand is concerned, Honda has remained to top brand preferred by Indian customers where new vehicle sales are concerned.
Demand for diesel variants increased 11% between 2011 and 2012 with over 43% of customers now opting for diesel engined vehicles. This is also despite the longer waiting periods involved. Auto companies are now trying to reduce this waiting period to ensure customer satisfaction. Where brands were concerned, the study estimates that Honda ranked the highest with a score of 835, followed by Hyundai with a score of 829 and Maruti Suzuki with a score of 824.
