At the recently concluded Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL), Shaminda Eranga of Nagenahira Nagas has been awarded the Man of the Series of the Mahindra sponsored crocket tournament, making him the recipient of the company's XUV500 SUV. This part, M&M have announced their intentions to venture into the two wheeler and aviation segment in Sri Lanka. Here the company will also be foraying into markets of finance, hospitality, housing and IT. M&M have sold their first aircraft in Sri Lanka and are soon to launch their range of scooters along with their upcoming venture with Sri Lanka Premier League as title sponsors where they embark on their first tournament in the country.
The Mahindra Group will be launching scooters for a start and will soon launch their range of motorcycles as well. These products will be imported from India into Sri Lanka which is presently the company's largest export market. Concentration of their range of two wheelers will be in small towns and villages in Sri Lanka.
Foraying into the aviation sector is also a possibility that M&M is opting for through their Aerospace subsidiary Gripps Aero. The company recently sold their first small aircraft GA8 Airvan in Sri Lanka and it is this that has prompted them to forge ahead in this area. They have appointed Ideal Favorite Aviation as their marketing and sales representatives in the country. Besides these plans, M&M have also plans of expanding their range to offer housing loans and insurance broking in the not too distant future.
