Samsung unveils the first Windows 8 Smartphone at IFA: Warns Apple over LTE

After a massive legal loss to Apple, Samsung Electronics has surprised all by announcing its Windows 8 smartphone, the first of its kind. It was at the IFA conference underway in Berlin that Samsung unveiled the ATIV S smartphone with Windows 8. The high end phone sports a 4.8 inch display. The device has a 1.9 megapixel front camera and 8 megapixel rear snapper. This unexpected launch has come as a surprise to many and has technology experts speculating about Samsung shifting focus from Android to Windows in the future.

Samsung who owns several patents in regard with LTE technology has confirmed that it will sue Apple should the company release any phone that utilizes LTE-Long Term Evolution, mobile technology, which is considered a standard and the best in today’s industry. The Apple vs. Samsung patent war is far from over. After Apple filed a lawsuit to ban sale of certain Samsung Android smartphones in US recently, the Korean Times reported that Samsung issued a statement saying” We will take necessary measures to ensure the availability of our products on the US market”. More than 50 patent disputes between the Apple and Samsung are pending in 10 countries. Tech experts warn the Apple vs. Samsung face off will get deadlier as days go by.
