Sales of Tata Motors during the month of July 2012 were up 15% as they stood at 74,159 units as against sales in the same period in the previous year. Domestic sales figures of Tata Commercial and Passenger vehicles too increased by 18% in the month of July 2012 as they stood 18% above the figures achieved in July 2011. During the month the company sold 68,627 units as compared to 57,990 units a year earlier.
Domestic sales and exports for this fiscal too were up, though just by 2%. Commercial vehicles sold in July 2012 stood at 42,387 units, just 4% higher than 40,798 units sold in July 2011. While light vehicle sales were up 19% for the month of July 2012, those of heavy commercial vehicles fell by 19% during the month. Sales of passenger vehicles for July 2012 stood at 26,240 units, up 15% as compared to 17,192 sold in July 2011.
Tata Nano was a major player in the market. It saw an increase of 68% during the month of July 2012. Last year in July the company sold 3,260 units while this July sales of Tata Nano have reached the 5,485 mark. Besides the Nano, Tata Indica, Indigo, Sumo, Safari and Aria too received increased demand during July 2012. Exports on the other hand were lower during July 2012. Last year the company exported 6,512 units during the month while in July 2012 only 5,532 units were exported.
