1998 Mercedes Benz CLK GTR expected to fetch $1.5 million at RM Auctions Monterey

One more rare and priceless Mercedes Benz has been resurrected for auction. This 1998 Mercedes Benz CLK GTR may not be old in years but it is rare for the fact that only 25 such models were built and this is the first of this lot. Expected price is slated to be at around £1 million ($1.5 million) as the vehicle goes under auctioneers hammer at RM Auctions Monterey sale in California on 17th August 2012.

This 1998 rare Mercedes boasts of a 7.3 liter engine and a clock that states that the vehicle has traveled only 1335 miles.  Limited in edition, Mercedes Benz CLK GTR is a completely street legal vehicle possessing a 7.3 liter dual overhead cam naturally aspirated V12 engine producing 720 bhp and capable of sprinting from 0 to 60 mph in a matter of 3.4 seconds while having abilities to reach a top speed of 197 mph. The vehicle possesses two small storage compartments under its doors that open upwards giving the vehicle a sportier appeal. The vehicles – all 25 of them were built in Affalterback, Germany.
