Who is the real owner of Ducati: Lamborghini or Audi?

The game of shadows continues to plague the auto industry where rightful ownership of Ducati is concerned. Some say its Lamborghini while others presume Audi. Shedding light on the information routed through word of mouth and internet the 2012 interim Financial Report from Audi states that not only was the performance bike manufacturer bought for less but it seems that Audi doesn't own it either.

The Italian bike brand was purchased for $980 million far less than the 1.1 million estimated previously. Another interesting fact is that the bike brand is reportedly owned by Lamborghini and even though one might think it's a part of Audi, new report suggests it actually belongs to Lamborghini.

Proof of this fact can be seen in the act of appointing Ducati CEO, Gabriele del Torchio to Lamborghini's board of directors. Major outcome of this move is that it shows the Italian bike brand is in Italian hands and the other factor supporting Lambo's ownership is that they can lower the hood on emission standards laid down by the EU.
