Fiat India is all set to jump onto the SUV bandwagon as they announce their plans on bringing in Fiat Punto Adventure SUV. Punto Adventure is not exactly a compact SUV, but caters to buyers desiring the same sturdy look and off road presence of a full fledged SUV. Punto Adventure will come in to attract buyers eyeing the compact SUV segment such as Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport. Speaking on the engine and transmission, the official added, Punto Adventure will be powered by a 1.3 liter diesel engine offering 90 bhp power and a 1.4 liter petrol as seen in the Fiat Linea. Currently, Fiat India is working on getting suppliers for Punto Adventure parts locally. Punto Adventure by Fiat India is specially designed for Indian car buyers. It will be manufactured at their facility in Ranjangaon near Pune.
Fiat India will need to invest heavily in their local manufacturing unit so as to enable local manufacture to keep prices at competitive levels. It will come in with excellent ground clearance as is also seen in the Punto hatchback. Fiat India will also be bringing in the refreshed Punto and Linea this year along with Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee.
