50 global carbon doixide reduction projects in 17 different countries is Jaguar Land Rover's contribution to making the world a better and safer place. The latest contribution is a LifeStraw project which provides safe and clean drinking water to Kenya. Other projects include distribution of over 180,000 fuel efficient stoves to people in countries like Uganda, Ghana and Cambodia which has gone a long way in drastically reducing emissions and improving the quality of air which in turn has enhanced health of over 1 million people in these countries.
Through these efforts Jaguar Land Rover expects to reduce about 10 million tonnes of CO2 by 2014 and are well on their way to achieving this target as on date they have been able to offset 5.2 million tonnes of CO2.
LifeStraw is a simple water purification process. It consists of a simple plastic tube through which water is drawn while passing through various processes of filtration. Particles down to 0.2 microns can be filtered through its fibers and the entire process works similar to a simple drinking straw while it can filter upto 1000 liters of water and remove 99.9% of impurities.
