Volkswagen Group's Audi is forging ahead in sales and marketing techniques. They have set their sights on being in a No.2 position before this year is out and they have only four months to prove their worth. Audi which did overtake BMW India sales in June are now targeting second place in the country in a more permanent nature, rather than a struggling to get there approach.
Supply shortages of their new compact utility vehicle Q3 may bog them down, though the company is making them available as they are being allotted. Audi had set targets of being in No.1 position in Indian luxury auto market by 2014-15 but considering their present situation, the German luxury car manufacturer are in all likelihood capable of reaching this goal earlier than planned.
Audi Q3 is a major crowd puller. The company received 500 bookings in just 5 days and completed deliveries of 300 units promptly. The current supply constraints limit Audi' ability to suply Q3's to 200 a month. August 2012 saw Audi launch the new Audi A8 4.2 TDI, ultra luxury diesel sedan in India at a price of Rs 1,00,75,000. Audi hopes to achieve their target of 8000 units by end of this year as they tread closer to improving slaes volume. Competetion between Mercedes Benz, Audi, and BMW in India currently stand such that Audi needn't look over their shoulder to see who's catching up. It's clearly come down to keeping their eyes irnly on BMW.
