Ford C-MAX Energi hybrid car is cheaper and efficient than Toyota Prius

Ford's C-MAX Energi Plug-in Hybrid is expected to hit showrooms later this year with promises to traverse upto 20 miles on pure electric power. If company estimates prove to be true this will be double that which is being currently offered by Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid. Ford C-MAX Hybrid prices start from $25,995, which does not make it the cheapest hybrid car out there.

Ford has further stated that their C-MAX Energi will be capable of a range of upto 550 miles on a single full tank. The vehicle offers comfortable seating capacity for upto five adults and should go on sale this fall while offering 47 miles per gallon in city limits.

C-MAX Energi will be produced from the company plant in Michigan, Wayne from where the company also manufactures its Ford Focus. The same plant will also be responsible for the production of Focus Electric. C-MAX is already open for pre orders and is looked upon as being a highly affordable utility vehicle.

Both the C-MAX Hybrid will be capable of generating 188 hp through a 2.0 liter Atkinson cycle four cylinder engine and an 8 kWh lithium ion battery pack that permits fast charging which will be an added advantage. The availability of a SmartGauge with EcoGuide system is designed to offer users fuel economy display on two 4.2 inch LCD screens.
