Japanese car maker, Toyota has produced their 200 millionth vehicle. Their top seller Toyota Corolla has been instrumental in Japanese automakers Toyota Motor Corporation reaching and surging ahead of the 200 million mark. This is a major event in the history of Toyota Motor Corporation which rolled out its first G1 truck in August of 1935. The company has certainly come a long way in these past 77 years.
Out of the total of 200 million vehicles 145.21 million have been produced on their home ground Japan while the balance of 55.12 million was produced from other global markets. It goes without saying that the Corolla sedan has been their prized seller ever since it was launched with total sales reaching 39.08 million units till the end of June 2012.
Toyota Motor Corporation currently employs a total of 300,000 staff worldwide. The Corolla has always been looked upon as the company's most successful vehicle accounting for one in every five Toyota's sold. Sales in Australia alone accounted for 1,190,750. Production in Australia commenced in 1963 while exports commenced from 1986 both of which continue today with Camry, Camry Hybrid and Aurion sedans. After Corolla, Camry is the company's second best seller.
Akio Toyoda, President of the company thanked his employees across the world who have played a major role in the company reaching this historic milestone.
