Last week, in South Korea, French car manufacturer, Renault unveiled the revamped SM3, known as Fluence in India and 85 other markets including Europe. SM3 is sold under the brand name Renault Samsung in Korea. 2013 Fluence has received exterior and interior upgrades. The design styles of this revamped Korean model will be incorporated within the European model as well.
Some of the interesting changes within the new Fluence include a new front fascia complete with newly designed front bumper and grille. Sleek and elegant black bezel headlight fixtures have also been added to this model. The interiors have not been subjected to much of a change apart from inclusion of a new instrument panel coupled with digital display interfaces.
Renault Samsung has launched the new SM3 / Fluence in Korea at a price of W15.38 million ($13,589 or Rs 7.55 lacs) for the base model and W19.78 million ($17,484 or Rs 9.71 lacs) for the top model. The new Renault Samsung SM3 is powered by Nissan's H4MK 1.6L engine mated to an Xtronic continuously variable transmission (X-CVT), that generates a maximum power of 117 hp and peak torque of 157 Nm.
"Based on the globally renowned technology of the Renault-Nissan alliance, the new SM3, which offers excellent fuel economy, refined and urban design, unique quality and innovative digital appeal, will position itself as Korea's best premium sub-mid sedan in the second half by offering a whole new standard in the domestic sub-mid car market," RSM's CEO Francois Provost says in a statement.
