China is one of the Asian countries that is a large market for car industry, especially the Volkswagen Group. In order to make sure that the company can cater to the needs of its customers it has decided to open a new transmission plant in China. The presence of this plant will allow for the company to produce parts and influence the growth of economy in this region.
The new plant will be built in Tianjin in China and will ready by 2014. The plant will have a capacity of producing 450.000 units annually. Presence of this plant will also help to create job opportunities for 1500 people. The Volkswagen group has sold over 2.26 million units during the last year and has recorded an increase of 17.1 percent in deliveries during the first half of 2012.
"Our new transmission plant is further confirmation of the inseparable bond between China and Volkswagen. Tianjin will become a cornerstone of our Chinese production network and a driving force for the economy in the entire region", said Prof. Dr. Jochem Heizmann, who heads VW's newly-founded "China" operations group, during the founding stone ceremony.
