With greater emphasis being shown towards improving the environment and conservation of energy, Volkswagen Group has organized a two day conference to discuss how sustainability targets planned by them for 2018 can be achieved. Conservation of resources and reduction in energy consumption will be the primary aim of this convention at which 400 environmentalist are expected to attend. The conference is being held at AutoUni in Wolfsburg and major issues in achieving targets set by Volkswagen at their 94 plants worldwide will be discussed.
Among Volkswagen plans are reduction of CO2 emissions by the EU27 vehicle fleet by 30% by 2015 is the primary aim. This will ensure that the brand emits below 120g of CO2 per km. Every new and upcoming model of the company will also average 10% to 15% less auto emission than its previous model and this will help in ensuring that the company reaches its goals by 2018. These goals will be followed by all Volkswagen plants such as the Palmela Plant in Portugal, wherein the company plans on converting waste heat to energy for spray booths.
At the Volkswagen Emden Plant sensors are installed to measure air quality and regulate ventilation system. This results in lower CO2 emissions by 27000 metric tons. An electric power station is also installed at the Polkowice Plant in Poland which supplies the plant with 100% carbon neutral power. These measures will soon be followed in all Volkswagen plants and will be discussed at the convention.
