This may be looked upon as the strangest car ever built as it was created by motor mechanic William Higgins out of rather unusual items such as a bedstead, pram wheels, bicycle saddle for driver's seat and a Villiers motorbike engine. This creation came about when Higgins Sr. was working in his own garage on his own car when his two year old son asked for a car of his own. True to his word the father set about creating a little car for his son. Arthur Higgins was four when this vehicle was complete and treasured this vehicle, which his father built from scratch at no cost and using only scrap items.
Arthur spent many hours racing around in homemade vehicle but grew up to work on farms where he drove more conventional vehicle and even worked as a taxi driver in New York during his life. However he did not abandon his unusual car built by his father and stored it in his garage.
Today the owner may be no longer alive but his memory of the happy days he spent driving around in this jalopy as a toddler lives on. Now his widow Sheila, is looking forward to getting someone to complete restoration on the car so that it may be passed down to her children and grandchildren in the hope that it may bring then the same joy that it did to their late grandfather.
