New Mercedes Benz A and B Class petrol engines already meet EURO 6 standard emission limits

European emission standards define acceptable limits of emissions for different vehicles sold in the European Union. Keeping in mind particulate matter and emissions from vehicles and aircraft, there are a number of various stands for each of these classes of transport. Mercedes Benz has taken conservation of the environment seriously, by incorporating superior engines in all of its vehicles. Adhering to Euro 6 European emissions standard, it has designed its class A and B engines to be environment friendly by meeting the required emissions standards laid down. These engines have been tested and a drastic reduction in particulate limits has been seen, which is an integral part of these engines. Mercedes Benz has promised that deliveries made prior to the upgrade of these engines can also be recoded to provide optimum performance within the European Standards.

Though these limits are to be placed into effect in 2014, Mercedes Benz has already complied, showing the major role it plays when it comes to the environmental acceptability of its vehicles. Dr. Thomas Weber, Board Member responsible for Group Research and Development for Mercedes-Benz Cars said, that diesel car models too are being provided with Euro 6 compliant upgrades. These upgrades will help to reduce amount of nitrogen oxide in exhaust emissions of diesel cars and commercial vehicles, with the introduction of Blue TEC technology.

Thanks to the use of advanced technology by Mercedes Benz it has been possible for the company to provide to the A class and b class petrol engines. This has ensured that vehicles will comply with the strict particle number limit of 6x1011 per Km which will not become compulsory until the year 2017, when the second phase of Euro 6 will be launched. For vehicles produced from August 2012 (B-Class: September), this will be documented in the certificate of conformity or COC. Vehicles that have been produced earlier can be recoded and customers will be contacted so as to enable them obtain new COC certificate from their Mercedes Benz outlet.
