1979 sportscar Porsche 928 used in the film "Risky Business" is up for auction and expected to fetch $60,000. The auction will be held at Profiles in History Hollywood Treasures from the Vault sale which commences from July 28th. The car's odometer reads 102,755 miles, is reported to be in operating condition.
Though prices are slated at the $60,000 mark, Joe Maddalena, head honcho at the auction house feels that this historic vehicle will definitely go way past its expected price. Maddalena also reiterates that Porsche had refused to permit Director Paul Brickman use any of their cars in this movie and hence the director had to buy three used Porsches of his own.
This particular vehicle up for auction possesses a 5 speed manual transmission, 16 inch offset 5 hole aluminum alloy wheels and a three spoke steering wheel. The car was painted green but was painted gold for the movie. Besides this 1979 Porsche 928 there were two other Porsches used in the making of the movie. One was a 1981 automatic transmission with 15" wheels and 4 spoke steering wheel and the other was a 1978 5 speed with a brown and crème interior. This vehicle was rented only for one particular shot during the entire movie.
