Update: 2012 BMW 3 Series to be launched in India in early August 2012. The 2012 BMW 3 Series has already been launched in Europe towards the end of 2011, customers in India are eagerly awaiting its launch in the country which is expected by the end of this month. Photographs abound on social networks and the BMW Facebook page shows pictures of the upcoming model with an exciting contest being arranged. Winner of this contest will get a chance to fly to the launch.
F30 is designed with various cues taken from 5 Series and 7 Series while headlights are LED with eyelids seen above corona rings. Though the F30 looks bigger and bulkier than its predecessor, weight is actually reduced by nearly 40 kgs. It is designed for a more comfortable ride specially in the rear seats while head room is also enhanced making it comfortable for passengers in the taller category.
BMW is offering the F30 in both diesel and petrol options in Europe but whether the same applies to its Indian lineup is to be seen. Petrol variants will be the 320i and 328i both producing 181 bhp and 241 bhp respectively. The 320d variant offers 181 bhp and 380 Nm torque. BMW pricing for the F30 will have to compete with Mercedes Benz C Class 250 CDi and Audi A4 TDI.
