Volvo Car Corporation is researching ways in which drivers can stay safely in current lane, avid accidents at crossroads and avoid fender-bender clashes with stray animals. By finding solutions to these three major reasons for road accidents the company is taking a major leap into the 2020 goal of preventing any serious accidents in a Volvo car. Intensive research work is currently underway at Volvo Car Corporation who are about to make a major breakthrough in the negligible to zilch road accidents in the future in Volvo cars.
These techniques will take into account the various behavioral patterns of drivers specially in current day traffic environments. Drivers on roads today cannot be compared by a long shot to cautious and wry drivers of the past. In the past drivers would never even have dreamt of texting, checking mails or calling while behind a wheel, nor did they have the current day infotainment instruments to cause any sort of distractions while on the road. All this needs to be taken into account and new technologies need to be in place to counter act these activities while behind the wheel so that innocent lives are not lost at the hands of careless and distracted drivers.
Volvo Car Corporation is working on Autonomous Driving Support technology that will help the driver to safely follow the car in front without the driver diverting from their respective lanes. Intersection Support will see the use of sensors to assess traffic conditions at intersections and crossings where an oncoming car is immediately sensed while collision is prevented. Animal detection is more in use while travelling to the countryside or in remote areas where the system will immediately detect the presence of wild animals both in darkness and daylight.
