Audi India finished 2011 as the third largest luxury car maker, but this year, it has not only progressed to the second spot (by replacing Mercedes Benz India), but is also competing for the top spot with BMW (who has held this position since 2009). BMW and Mercedes Benz are yet to reveal their sales figures for August 2012. In August 2011, BMW sold 816 cars while Mercedes Benz sold 614 cars.Audi car sales in India grew by an impressive 42% YOY for the month of August 2012.
Audi India sold 726 luxury cars last month compared to 510 units sold in Aug 2011 (250 cars for Aug 2010). Audi India's YTD car sales too registered a growth of 48% as they stood at 5,406 units this year, compared to 3,655 units for the same period last year (1,876 cars for Aug 2010). Audi India is well on its way to surpass last year's overall sales figure this month. In 2011, Audi sold 5,511 cars in India.

With a total of 5406 units sold this year so far, we are confident of steering towards, and potentially surpassing, our target of 8000 units this year." said Mr. Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.
