At the Moscow International Auto Show, the new Nissan Almera is on display in its full glory at the Nissan Pavilion. Besides being highly stylish and modern, with a host of interesting up to date features, Almera will also be affordable and it will be these factors that will play a major role in its acceptance.
Built at the newly installed line in Togliatti, Nissan Motors has great plans for Russia where launch of Almera is expected to play a prominent part. Designers and engineers based in Japan, Europe and Russia have worked tirelessly on creating the Almera, ensuring that it meets specific demands of that particular region. It is also capable of withstanding the worst of weather conditions prevalent across Russia.
Almera is a four door, five seater vehicle with long wheelbase. Almera, measuring 4,656mm from front to rear contributes to better cabin space and additional room upto 500 liters in its boot thus making the Almera an ideal family vehicle. Engine of the Almera is a 1.6 liter 16 valve petrol engine offering 102 hp and 145 Nm torque mated to either a five speed manual or four speed automatic transmission.
Russia is an important market for Nissan. The year 2011 saw Nissan sales increase by 75% in the country and this has made the company set major targets for the current year as well. Nissan plans to commence production of their next generation Qashqai at St. Petersburg and if everything goes according to plan by the year 2015, 80% of all Nissan vehicles sold across Russia will be produced locally.
