New 2013 Volkswagen Golf launch at Neue Nationalgalarie Berlin: 7th gen MK7 price announcement later

Just now Volkswagen CEO, Martin Winterkorn presented the new 2013 VW Golf(MK7, which is the 7th gen Golf) at the world premiere of the new Golf at the Neue Nationalgalarie of modern art, Berlin, Germany. Buyers will only be able to book their vehicles later this year with deliveries slated for early 2013. A closer and more detailed look will only be possible at the 2012 Paris Motor Show at the end of this month.

What exactly does the 2013VW Golf MK7 have in store? For starters the new Golf will be 100 kgs lighter than the present model thanks to it lightweight body and weight saving interiors. We all know being lighter, mean sit would be more fuel efficient. Engines have been upgraded to ensure enhanced aerodynamics and lower CO2 emissions which have been reduced by 13.9%. VW Golf Bluemotion TDI will offer only 85/km with averages of 88 mpg. Howeer, hese statistic swere not enough to keep environmental activists from Greenpeace at bay who came to make their opinion known.

2013 Golf MK7 will be based on MQB platform which the company has used in a number of their models including Tiguan and Touran. With a longer wheelbase, the MK7 offers enhanced cabin space and boot space though headroom is compacted. Engines will be 1.2 TSI petrol while 1.4 TSI petrol with cylinder deactivation technology is also being offered. Prices will probably be announced closer to launch dates.
