The period January to June 2012 has been positive for Skoda Auto. Sales have increased by 8.4% with the company delivering 493,000 units from January to June 2012, while the company sold 454,700 units in the same period in the previous year. The month of June has been even more spectacular with Skoda Auto sales reaching 87,400 in the month while sales in the same month in the previous year stood at 81,300.
Sales figures such as these are creditable in an otherwise difficult market. The company outperformed in almost all markets and has set targets for the balance six months of this year which they are optimistic of reaching. The launch of Skoda Rapid which is slated for launch in Europe by autumn of 2012 is what will play a major role in achieving these targets.
Skoda sales in Chinese markets were up 5.5% during the month of June 2012. This figure stood at 19,100 in June 2011. Total sales during the first six months of this year were up 7.6% with the company delivering more than 120,700 units. Skoda Octavia sales increased 20.3% in June 2012 while Skoda Superb figures reached 4,000 units and Fabia reached 3,800 units in the month.
Sales in India too were promising, with the company registering 89% sales growth in the month of June 2012 over the same period in the previous year. Total sales in June 2012 stood at 4,923 units as compared to sales in June 2011 which were at only 2,610 units. The company is also keen to expand their dealership network in the country from the present 106 dealers and improve their after sales service to enhance customer satisfaction.
