Rajesh Khanna stepped into Bollywood as an affluent struggling actor. Even when he was searching for work in the early years, years before he was bestowed the superstar status, Rajesh Khanna was known to drive to and back from work in his imported MG sports car.
The actor with his rather non conventional looks didn't fit in comfortably right at the start. In time he rewrote style, and stardom but that didn't stop him from being awkward every now and then. What later generations' may have termed as overacting was in his time worth a million bucks.
Women didn't just write their phone number on his car in lipstick, fans would be happy imply kissing his car leaving a trail of smudged lip marks. When he passed by, women were known to give chase and shout out his name. When romancing with Dimple Kapadia, a chosen birthday gift one year was the Chevrolet Impala. While crooning (not quite so softly) to Sharmila Tagore in Aradhana way back in 1969, who can forget the superstar's antics driving in a 1964 Willys CJ3B left-hand drive.
