Toyota unveils TRD GT86 Special edition sportscar for UK

Toyota GT86 special edition was earlier seen at Tokyo Auto Show earlier this year and later at the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this month, TRD - Toyota Racing Development unveiled TRD GT86. Now the company has announced that the model will be on sale in UK markets as a special edition from early 2013. Toyota TRD GT86 special edition will have some special exterior modifications which will comprise aerodynamic fins fitted on its front wheels, wider side skirts and a larger boot lid wing.

The car will be fitted with 18" forged alloy wheels encompassed with Michelin performance tyres. The same enhanced features will carry on into the interiors where will be seen comfortable sport bucket seats, a Sports Meter Link System which will include water and oil temperature and pressure gauges and a TRD badged gearshift knob. The vehicle is powered by a 2.0 liter flat four engine mated to a six speed manual or a s ix speed auto transmission producing 200 hp at 7000 rpm and 151 lb/ft torque at 6600 rpm.

According to Toyota, "The GT 86 has been conceived as an entirely driver-focused machine, designed to deliver the core qualities of the classic sports car experience. That means precise, instant response to the smallest throttle and steering inputs and the kind of performance that appeals to those for whom driving is a passion, not a necessity. The GT 86 is built on a new platform, with a highly aerodynamic bodyshell stretched tight over the car's mechanical elements. Rather than fitting a heavy, large capacity powertrain, Toyota has opted instead to go back to its sporting roots, installing a compact, front-mounted, free-revving petrol engine that drives the rear wheels."
