Mercedes Benz Actros, the heavy duty trucks introduced by the company in 1995 is ideally suited for long distance, heavy duty travel. These vehicles are powered by either V6 or V8 diesel engines with turbocharger and intercooler. These heavy duty trucks are fitted with two types of engines - OM 501 LA-541 and the OM 502 LA-542. These trucks possess Euro VI compliant engines from 175 kW to 375 kW and possess safety systems for short radius distribution.
Unmatchable in design and extraordinary in performance is what makes these Mercedes Benz Actros trucks stand apart and is what has earned these vehicles the prestigious 2012 Red Dot Design Award.
This year a total of 1800 manufacturers and designers from 58 countries presented their entries for this exalted award. These vehicles were judged by international and independent experts who came to final decisions after assessing 4500 products on the basis of innovative products, aesthetic quality and pioneering design. The most revered member of the panel was Prof. Peter Zec – initiator and director of Red Dot Design Awards who leads his team of other judges through the judging process.
