It has been a few months since Emilia Romagna region was hit by earthquakes which devastated the area and caused much damage and hardship to its residents. This has caused heartbreak to officials at Ducati who decided to do something to help the people in this area.
On 4th August 2012, a ceremony was held at the Ducati Factory in Borgo Panigale where three vans Volkswagen Crafter Kombi were donated to the region. These vans were purchased through fund raising between employees of Ducati, Ducati Clubs and the company. At the handing over ceremony, keys of these three vans were handed over to Ferioli Fernando, Mayor of Finale Emilia, Claudio Broglia, Mayor Crevalcore Accorsi and Rudi, Mayor of San Possidonio.
These were the 3 most hit regions during the earthquake which is home to many Ducati employees and a number of Ducati suppliers many of whom suffered immense losses due to their facilities being ravaged in the earthquake. Funds were collected through various activities conducted by the company. Online sales, fund raising events, collections from company promoters and guarantors, the company and club were put together for the purchase of these vans.
