Increase in vehicles has been the main cause of traffic congestions in many parts of the country. Due to the rampant increase there is a shortage of space on roads forcing drivers to break traffic signals and thereby jeopardize lives of other commuters. To help crackdown on errant drivers, hidden cameras should be installed at strategic locations in cities. As location of these cameras is not known to anyone, erring drivers can be caught on tape without them even knowing about it.
Cameras should be placed at intersections and strategic locations in and around city limits. Data collected by these cameras can be used for future construction of roads and renovations. By making use of these cameras feeds to radio and TV stations can be provided allowing people to navigate through other routes in case of traffic jams.
A network of these hidden cameras will act as a deterrent to stop offenders and catch those who might violate rules and regulations. License plates of erring drivers can be captured and tickets can be issued without wasting time, by using these cameras. In order to provide an effective network, police departments and motor vehicle departments need to work in tandem. Cities in India like Kochi and New Delhi have made use of these hidden cameras to catch traffic offenders effectively.
