At the upcoming Paris Motor Show which goes live on 27th September, Jaguar is getting ready to debut production version of their C-X16 Concept, F-Type two seater sports car, without the hybrid option. Unveiling of this new Jaguar sports car is even more noteworthy due to the fact that it will signal their re-entry into the segment after a gap of almost four decades. Jaguar unveiled the F-Type's predecessor E-Type back at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show. At that time, after having a look at the E-Type, Enzo Ferrari, Founder, Ferrari, said that it is the most beautiful car ever built. Jaguar hopes to re-create the same with F-Type. The E-Type was discontinued in 1974.
Tata Motors owned Jaguar Land Rover will officially launch this super car in European markets by mid 2013 in a choice of three petrol engine options 340PS, 380PS versions of 3.0 liter supercharged V6 while supercharged 5.0 liter V8 will also be added, output of which is expected to be around 450 PS. These engines will be mated to an eight speed transmission equipped with Start/Stop technology. F TYPE will be produced at company plant in Castle Bromwich, UK and will take its place among other Jaguar offerings such as XF Saloon, Sportbrake and XJ Saloon and XK Convertible.
Jaguar will also be concentrating on launching 40 new products in the next 4 to 5 years, while Tata plans to inject $12 billion over the same period in order to give some tooth to the British brand which will help them compete with the German giants, BMW, Audi and Mercedes Benz.
Jaguar is planning £1.5 billion investment on new products and modernization of capacities in a bid to position themselves as top premium brand. A recent joint venture with Chevy Automobiles in China is also being enhanced to commence production activities and accommodate more local production for which the company will be investing ¥3.5 billion.
