Ninth Generation Honda Accord 2013 variant revealed

Details and photos of the ninth generation production variant Accord by Honda, which will be available in sedan and coupe, have been revealed. The coupe variant was put on exhibition at the 2012 Detroit auto show in January. This new model will be inducted into the mid size segment and will be pitted against the likes of the Nissan Altima, Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion, VW Passat and Chevrolet Malibu on a global level.

The new car is the most sculpted and aero dynamic model  yet. The car is designed on the basis of needs of the passengers rather than the exteriors. Passenger and cargo space have been increased even though the length of the variant has been shortened.

New features like collision warning technology, rear camera for parking and lane changing technology will be seen in the new 2013 Honda Accord. The new Accord is also considerably lighter than its predecessors and these accounts for increased handling and dynamics.

2013 Honda Accord will be available in two variants. These include an petrol variant and a gasoline-electric hybrid variant. For the petrol variant, Honda Accord 2013 offers 2.4L DI generating 181 hp with 177 lb-ft torque and a 3.5L V6 i-VTEC with option for a 6-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual gearbox.

For the Hybrid powertrain, 2013 Accord offers a 2.0L four cylinder petrol engine with E-CVT and a 6 kWh electric motor generating 161 hp. The hybrid variant can run on three modes, all electric, direct drive and hybrid. In all electric mode, the 2013 model will have a range of 16-24 kms (10-15 miles) and a top speed of 62 mph (100 kmph). Lithium-ion battery of 2013 Accord can be recharged fully within four hours using 120V outlet and within 1.5 hours by 240V outlet.
