Skoda participates in Sachsen Classic rally with four historic cars

Total of four Skoda classic cars from 1930s, 40s and 60s, currently in possession of Skoda Auto Museum will be participating in the Sachsen Classic 2012 Rally. This car rally is now in its tenth year. It is well known among classic car circuits. Participants will traverse along a 615 km route through spectacular Saxon countryside. The rally kicked off earlier today and will wind its way through Zwickau through Sachsenring via Leipzig to Dresden. The rally will terminate on August 18th at German auto maker's Volkswagen plant Transparent Manufacture.

Jan Kopecky, Skoda's rally driver will start the race in a Skoda 1000 MB Rallye. Besides this a Skoda Coupe, two Skoda Convertibles and a Skoda sports car will form part of the Skoda classic collection for the events. Kopecky is eager to participate in Skoda sports cars. Skoda 1000 Rallye is built in 1968 and is a novelty in the auto sports world. In ownership of Skoda museum, this is a four cylinder vehicle with displacement of 1 liter generating 90 hp with top speed of 170 kmph.

Besides this, a Skoda Popular Monte Carlo of year 1936 will also participate in Saxony. This vehicle was one of only 72 produced in its time. This rear wheel drive is powered by a four cylinder four stroke engine with a maximum speed of 110 kmph. Skoda Tudor built in 1948 will also be on display. This is a four cylinder with maximum speed of 100 kmph. While finally the Skoda Felicia, from the year 1961 which also participated in the Sachsen Classic last year will be participating. This is a rare blue green colored vehicle with a four cylinder engine and output of 50 hp.
