RM Auctions have another spectacular and priceless Ferrari up for auction. This time round it is a 1962 Ferrari 250GT SWB California Spyder which will go under the auctioneers hammer on August 17th and 18th 2012 in California. With chassis No.3119GT, this vehicle is designed by Pininfarina and put into action by Scaglietti. This is one of only 100 such California Spyders in existence which were produced between 1958 and 1963.
The classic car possesses a 3 liter Colombo V12 engine and being one of the only 37 short wheelbase variants with covered headlight it is what makes this 1962 Ferrari even more desirable. This particular 1962 Ferrari 250GT SWB (short wheelbase) California Spyder has a star studded history having began its journey in March of 1962.
Sold initially by Jacques Swaters' Garage Francorchamps SA in Belgium back in 1962, the vehicle possesses an attractive color of Rosso Corsa and has a tan leather interior. Later imported into the US in 1970, this Ferrari Spyde has received award winning restoration and was on display at the 40th Annual Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in 1990. Estimates reveal that this vehicle should receive a knock down price between $7,500,000 and $9,000,000.
