2013 Volkswagen Golf to be revealed in Berlin prior to Paris Show

One of the highest selling cars in Europe, Volkswagen Golf will be entering seventh generation very soon. It was expected that VW Golf Mk7 based on Volkswagen's MQB platform will first be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show on the 29th September. But, according to Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung, German news daily, Volkswagen Group will premier their highest selling car at an event in Berlin on 4th September.

The underside of the compact Golf Mk7 model will be designed on the basis of VW Group's modular transverse matrix (MQB) platform which is currently shared by Audi A3 and Seat Leon. Exteriors of this model can be expected to be redefined based on the current models design style. Golf Mk7 us expected to go on sale in Europe by November this year.

The car will be available in gasoline and diesel engine variants. The engines will be equipped with active cylinder management system (ACT) which shuts down cylinders 2 and 3 under pre-decided conditions. This helps to reduce fuel consumption and improve fuel efficiency. Top range models as also the R AWD sport models will be powered by a 2.0Liter TSI engine. Sale of new models of the Golf Mk7 will pave the way for hybrid gasoline/diesel – electric engines and pure hybrid variants.
