Arvind Saxena steps in as Managing Director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars India

German automotive giants, Volkswagen have appointed Arvind Saxena as their Managing Director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars in India. Formerly Director Sales and Marketing at Hyundai India, Saxena will be heading the Volkswagen Brand and will be in-charge of all sales, after sales and marketing operations. He will be based out of Mumbai and is pleased with his new appointment. He has over three decades of experience in the automotive sector, and has worked in various capacities in Bajaj Auto, Maruti Suzuki, Fiat India and lastly in Hyundai.

Saxena has also worked in various areas in these companies right from area manager, regional marketing manager, general manager, chief general manager to Director and Member of the Board at his last appointment in Hyundai India. Saxena has put in his papers on Monday evening and is expected to leave the company within next few days to assume his new appointment.

Volkswagen sales have declined by 16.3% to 15,539 units between April and June 2012. Production is also down 30% to 17,533 units in the same period and these dipping numbers puts a damper on Volkswagen Group's targets to capture 10% share in the Indian market by 2018.
