Kawasaki Ninja motorcycles recalled over oil leaks

Kawasaki has announced that a total of 4170 Ninja ZX-10R Supersport bikes of 2011-12 batch will be recalled following reports of oil leaks. The problem is noted in joint between starter and crankcase which is causing a leak which would lead to oil spill and possible dangers of fire. Though till date the company has not received any reports of any untoward incidents having occurred due to this problem, Kawasaki is leaving no stone unturned in rectifying the problem on a war footing.

The company will be notifying owners to bring in their vehicles for a check and dealers have already been intimated to ensure that crankcase is resealed free of charge. The recall will commence shortly and owners of Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R are expected to call the company for further instructions at 1-866-802-9381.

Kawasaki Ninja possesses a four stroke liquid cooled DOHC engine with four valves per cylinder mated to a six speed transmission. It is an ultimate sports bike with fuel tank capacity of 4.5 gallons and curb weight of 436.6 lbs. Ninja ZX-R1o Supersport is offered in a choice of three color combinations, Line Green, Passion Red and Platinum Gray together with Metallic Spark Black.
