Anand Mahindra Chairman of Mahindra group unveiled India's first platinum rated automobile plant for the manufacturing of next generation green vehicles. The inauguration of this eco-friendly manufacturing plant signifies the vision of Mahindra group to create and shape future of mobility.
This plant has been built keeping in mind the 5 C's Clean, Convenient, Connected, Clever and Cost Effective. Clean is to use and recycle used automobiles so as to ensure the entire lineup is eco friendly. Convinient is to enable remote maintenance of car models so as to provide flexibility and convenience to owners.
Connected is to make sure connectivity between carsand owners is magnified and put to use. Clever includes integration of telematics and electronics within cars to make them clever and intelligent enough to interact with traffic signals and in some cases even drive themselves. Cost Effective is to incorporate all the above mentioned factors to facilitate cost effective solutions for the manufacture of these vehicles.
Keeping in mind eco friendly transport facilities, this new plant in Bengaluru is capable of producing 30,000 cars/units a year but will start production at a decreased turn out of 6,000 vehicles. The plant has been at a cost of INR 1 billion ($18.12 million at today's exchange rate) and will help address the demand of export of the NXR electric car to European countries.
