McLaren revealed their X1 Concept based on MP412C sports car at the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. This car has been built to the specifications of an anonymous buyer with a fetish for classic cars. Everything about this new offering is custom built. So exclusive is this vehicle that it is completely hand built and nothing but Pebble Beach was good enough as its launch pad. Pricing of course goes without saying, is a closely guarded secret.
The entire vehicle took two years to build and is specifically for this esteemed client who already owns on McLaren F1 vehicle, a Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren and a MP412C. The secret client expressed his desire for an exclusive vehicle that had all the abilities of a 12C but with its own unique body.
To get specifics of the vehicle to exactly what its customer desired, McLaren put together a mood book of inspiring photos to help the client make his final decisions. This book included photos of spectacular vehicles such as 1953 Chrysler D'Elegance Ghia, 1959 Buick Electra and 1971 Citroen SM also included a grand piano, a photo of Hollywood heartthrob Audrey Hepburn and an eggplant.
It is the latter's shiny finish and texture that inspired the client. Interiors get Harissa Red McLaren Napa leather along with carbon interior trim in titanium weave to give it a 3D effect. This unique X1 will soon make its way to the owner's collection while to solve the puzzle of whom the mystery buyer is, one will just have to keep their eyes trained on the roads if perchance one spots the vehicle along with its secret buyer.
