German car makers Volkswagen AG have seen encouraging results during the period January to July 2012 in an otherwise difficult market situation all across Europe. Volkswagen Passenger Cars sales were up 12% on the year in July largely due to positive trends both in Central and Eastern Europe. During July 2012, Volkswagen Passenger Cars delivered 468,300 units as compared to 418,600 in the month of July 2011.
In fact the period January to July itself has seen brand sales increase by 10.4%. During this seven month period, sales stood at 3.26 million units as against 2.95 million cars during the same period in the previous year. European markets saw sales of 1.05 million vehicles during first seven months of 2012 as compared to 1.02 million vehicles in the same period in 2011.
Where sales in Asia Pacific were concerned, deliveries increased by 15.1% in the period January to July 2012. Volkswagen sold 1.27 million units in China and Hong Kong as compared to 0.99 million units in the period January to July 2011. The same trend continued in North American markets where Volkswagen deliveries increased by 23.4% to 346,700 units, while in South American Markets sales increased by 6.4% to 472,7000 units.
