Yamaha Ray scooter to be launched next month in India

India Yamaha Motors will be launching their new gearless scooter, Ray in India next month. This new Yamaha scooter is expected to be priced between Rs.45,000 to Rs.50,000. Yamaha Motors have started accepting booking for the 125cc Ray and have signed Deepika Padukone to endorse the scooter.

Apart from this, Yamaha India has also launched a new campaign – Guess and Win Contest. The first 1,000 people to pre book Ray will be assured of Yamaha branded merchandise. The highlight of the contest is a chance to win a Ray just by guessing the correct ex – showroom price at which Ray will be launched. The contest is open till September 13, 2012. Yamaha has received more than 5,000 bookings for Ray from their 400 dealers across India. Yamaha Ray will compete with Honda Activa, Suzuki Access, Mahindra Duro and Hero Maestro in the Indian two wheeler segment.

The scooter segment in India is seeing a sea change. Demand is on the rise. College students and young working women are all showing increased affinity to purchasing light weight and highly efficient scooters. Yamaha Ray is also targeting young urban women and collegians. It will be produced at the Yamaha plant in Surajput in UP where the company has an installed capacity of 600,000 two wheelers per annum.
