Hyundai Santa Fe named safest Large Off Road 4X4 by Euro NCAP. In adult occupant category, New Generation Santa Fe scored 96% while in child occupant category, the D segment SUV score totaled 89%.
Hyundai’s new generation Santa Fe has been rated as the safest Large Off Road 4X4 in 2012. Assessed by Euro NCAP, the vehicle tops the score on all counts making it the safest vehicle to be tested by an independent vehicle assessment organisation and is even ahead of the Mercedes Benz M Class and Range Rover. A total of 36 vehicles were tested to arrive at these results. In adult occupant category, New Generation Santa Fe scored 96% while in child occupant category, the D segment SUV score totaled 89%. It was features like electronic stability control which contributed to the vehicles top score in the safety assist category. The New Generation Santa Fe is the brands first car to be fitted with active bonnet. This is immediately activated if a pedestrian is hit thus reducing its impact force and dipping the incidence of serious injury. It is this feature that made the vehicle score 71% in pedestrian safety.
