Maruti Suzuki Ertiga rebadged and sold as Mazda VX-1 in Indonesia

Japanese car maker, Mazda will be selling rebadged Maruti Suzuki Eritga compact MPV in Indonesia as VX-1. This not the first time they are rebadging a Suzuki product. They already have the Suzuki Wagon R as Mazda Flair and Alto as Carol Mk VI.

Automakers around the world have been seen rebadging their vehicles for various markets, in order to save costs of engineering a new car. This concept is catching the attention of a host of automakers since developing a car from the ground up entails high costs and rebadged engineering is an easy way out to introduce a new product in the market. This sort of arrangement not only reduces costs, but also saves on time and the need to carry out a host of tests on new vehicles. It also negates the creation of new tools or sourcing of new components which all add to costs.
IAB reports Mazda’s new VX-1 will be assembled by Suzuki at their Indonesian plant. CKD kits will be brought in for the Indonesian Ertiga. Mazda VX-1 MPV will be marketed as an entry level Mazda and will compete with others in its category in Indonesia. Tags: , Read more at http://www.rushlane.com/maruti-suzuki-ertiga-rebadged-and-sold-1262092.html#GKy3gL2b6Rbw1Wqz.99
