Nobody knows your Volkswagen better than we do: VW receives 2012 Automechanika Innovation Award

Volkswagen has been the recipient of the prestigious 2012 Automechanika Innovation Award in the category of Repair and Diagnostics for their recently developed VAS 6558A high voltage measuring module. The product stood out for its functionality, superb quality and originality as it is specially efficient when it comes to servicing of electric vehicles. This small device is highly effective in safety gauging which can be accomplished in the least amount of time and with remarkable precision which goes a long way in improving the quality of service.

VAS 6558A was developed by VW along with AVL DiTEST and is specially designed in gauging voltage of electric vehicles. What endeared this product to judges was the fact that it was compact yet efficient and sensitive which is capable of measuring even low resistance values. All data collected by the system is further transmitted to a diagnostic device through USB interface.

2012 Automechanika Innovation Awards are offered in nine categories – Parts, Systems, Tuning, Accessories, Repairs and Diagnostics, Repair and Maintenance, IT and Management, Service and Car wash and OE Products and Services and is looked upon as the most prestigious of international awards in its field.

Europe's leading automaker is presenting a raft of innovative after sales topics under the motto "Nobody knows your Volkswagen better than we do" at Automechanika 2012, the world's leading trade fair for the automotive industry, which takes place in Frankfurt am Main from September 11 – 16. The company is presenting some 25 topics at the exhibition stand in Hall 3 (stand number 3.1./ D 91), ranging from service concepts for electric vehicles to customer relationship management as well as new efficient workshop equipment systems and innovative repair methods. Innovations in the accessories and genuine parts business round off the range. In addition, Volkswagen has been awarded this year's Automechanika Innovation Award in the Repair/Diagnostics category for the VAS 6558A high-voltage test module.

As the Head of Volkswagen After Sales, Michael Horn, emphasized: "At this year's Automechanika we are presenting a broad range of innovative solutions and programs designed to raise service quality and customer satisfaction. In a challenging and diverging market environment, that is more important than ever for our competitiveness and for every single service partner." Volkswagen Service is concentrating on intensifying existing programs and systems in after sales with a view to offering optimum customer service and maximum market coverage. Added to that the company is also showcasing new and innovative solutions for operating business that make the daily workload easier for service personnel in retail all over the world and further improve service quality.

The topics being presented at this year's exhibition stand have been divided into three separate sections – market, quality and personnel – to make orientation easier. The "InCar Customer Communication (i3C)" concept for mobile services is being showcased in the market section. This is an extension of the Volkswagen Service App which has been available in Germany since August. The extension is based on data from a specific car and offers customized services. In addition, visitors to Automechanika can find out more about the "Economy Parts" line at this section of the stand, which showcases parts from the new range.

Another item in the Volkswagen line-up is the "Active Selling" international service marketing instrument, a globally successful concept for an individualized customer approach which is also designed to raise market coverage.

The quality section presents innovations such as the service concept for electric vehicles, and showcases the newly-developed VAS 6558A high-voltage test module which won the 2012 Automechanika Innovation Award in the Repair/Diagnostics category. The compact unit features all the functions required to measure voltages in electric vehicles. The "Offboard Diagnostic Information System (ODIS)" which is already in use at service partners worldwide enables an even more efficient diagnostic search. "Cross", the dealer management system for the German market, is being presented live complete with the latest functions. In the personnel section Volkswagen is introducing the new "Retail Qualification World Championship" which has been expanded to include sales and parts service personnel in addition to the service agents. Volkswagen TV is also present at Automechanika with its latest broadcasting concepts.

As a contact for the needs of German service partners, Volkswagen Service Deutschland is showcasing several specialist issues. Visitors can find out more about innovations in personnel training as well as support services for personnel marketing and recruitment. Service quality is also a central theme with the comprehensive range of instruments being presented to the public. Ecological sustainability is the motto of the "Think Blue." stand which illustrates the options Volkswagen is offering its partners to implement the well-known sustainability initiative in service firms.
