If you thought FBI agents get beaten to the bone by hackers only in the movies, you may well be in for a surprise. In real-life too agents get nailed by ambitious hackers. Reports about a massive privacy row are gaining momentum after hackers managed to steal in excess of 12 million Apple user details from an FBI agent’s laptop. AntiSec, a hacking group that was responsible for the hack claims to have obtained over 12 million Apple User IDs from the FBI agent’s laptop.
The group has said it has released 1 million IDs online after removing personal data. What has left tech experts perplexed and confused is why FBI had collected information of over 12 million Apple users. Apple users are going to take this privacy issue to the next level warn technology experts. After the hack, AntiSec issued a statement saying” During second week of March 2012, a Dell Vostro notebook, used by Supervisor Special Agent Christopher K Stangl from FBI Regional Cyber Action Team was breached using the AtomicReferenceArray vulnerability on Java.
During the shell sessions some files were downloaded from his Desktop folder one of them with the name of “NCFTA_iOS_devices_intel.csv” turned to be a list of 12,367,232 Apple iOS devices including Unique Device Identifiers (UDID), user names, name of device, type of device, Apple Push Notification Service tokens, zip codes, cell phone numbers, addresses, etc.” FBI has said this leak detail is untrue.
