Renault Kangoo Maxi Z.E. based electric vehicle for Pope Benedict XVI


Pope Benedict XVI has done a number of modifications to project a Green image. He has installed photovoltaic cells in the main auditorium while he has joined a project to offset carbon dioxide emissions. The Pope also intends that by 2020, 20% of electricity will be provided by renewable energy. 

Renault has offered their all electric vehicle specially modified to suit the needs of Pope Benedict XVI. The Pope is being presented this Green Vehicle which he will use during his travels across the grounds of the Vatican or while at his summer home in Castel Gandolfo. The vehicle is question is a white Kangoo which Renault has customized so as to cater to the needs of the Pontiff.

Besides this, Renault has also offered a second electric car which will be used by the Vatican police force for the Pope's security. This vehicle is painted blue and has a white and yellow stripe on each flank. Both these vehicles were presented to the Pope by Carlos Ghosn, Chairman of Renault at a function held on Wednesday at Castel Gandolfo, South of Rome.
