Renault looks forward to support from French Government regarding new Automotive Plan

On Wednesday, the French Government announced a plan to boost up country's struggling auto industry. The plan centers around French car sales by raising subsidies for electric cars and low auto emission vehicles while taxing those vehicle which are high on fuel consumption. French Government is also offering a €600 million package to small and medium companies as far as investment and liquidity are concerned.

Following this statement, Renault welcomed the Government's resolve to support clean and competitive vehicles and especially those utilizing electric power. Renault is at the forefront where electric vehicles are concerned. It is a leader in European electric car sales and has a range of four electric vehicles, namely Kangoo ZE, Fluence ZE, Twizy and ZOE. Production of ZOE and Kangoo ZE are limited to France while sales are on a global basis. Renault will also be bringing out a new electric motor which will be produced at Cleon from early 2013.

Production of electric vehicles is a major priority where Renault is concerned. Together with Nissan, the company has invested over €4 billion in the development and production of electric vehicles thus making them leaders in this arena. The French Government endeavors to introduce more electric vehicles. They will also be setting their own example by ensuring that 25% of vehicle they purchase will be electric or hybrid. The state will acquire between 40000 to 50000 electric and low emission vehicles in the coming four years.
